Fitrana fixed at Rs 80 per person: Mufti Muneeb

ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (APP): The minimum amount of Sadqa-e-Fitr or Fitrana to be paid before Eid-ul-Fitr has been fixed at Rs 80 this year, President,Tanzeemul Madaris Ahl-e-Sunnat Pakistan and Chairman, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman said on Sunday.According to the market price of 2.25 kilograms flour, the amount for Fitrana this year has been calculated at Rs 80, he told APP on telephone from Karachi.

He said those who wanted to pay Fitrana equal to the price of barley,Khajoor (dates) and Kishmish should pay Rs 200, Rs 1,280 and Rs. 1,600 respectively.
Mufti Muneeb also advised the people to pay the amount to the poor before Eid-ul-Fitr so that they could also celebrate the festival.
The most deserving people for Sadqa-e-Fitr are close relatives followed by neighbours and the poor. It is incumbent on every Muslim who possesses enough basic foodstuffs to feed himself and his family for the duration of one day and one night.
A Muslim must pay Sadqa-e-Fitr on behalf of himself, his wife, children and dependents.
