PHL Embassy prepares open house for Eid ul-Fitr

While it will be closed for much of next week, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) will organize an Open House for the end of Eid ul-Fitr, a three-day Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said it will also hold an annual Ramadan Quran Contest, which will feature memorization for children and for those under 18 years old.“The Embassy will also be organizing an Open House for the Eid el-Fitr," it said in a news release posted on its website on Wednesday.Earlier in August, Charge d’Affairs Ezzedin Tago led the Embassy staff in an Iftar with some members of the Filipino community in Riyadh and their families during the first week of Ramadan.Some 300 Filipinos and guests joined the Iftar hosted by the Embassy on August 4 at the Embassy compound in the Diplomatic Quarter.“The Iftar featured some delicacies of ethnic foods commonly available in southern Philippines, as well as common food dishes from Saudi Arabia," the DFA said.On August 3, the Embassy also held an Iftar for the personnel of the Embassy and its attached services and their families. - VVP, GMA News
